Optimus line will be run by new - its flagship smartphone will be called Optimus One and will be released in September this year. Optimus One will be running a mobile OS Android. LG Electronics has agreed to sell through a network of 120 mobile operators. Key market for LG will be the United States.
As for the second quarter of 2010, the share of LG's handset market was only 1.2 per cent. Total year-end LG, the third largest producer of mobile phones, has released ten new smartphones. LG Electronics also hopes to release a phone with the module to work in networks of the fourth generation (4G).
During the same period the company expects to sell another five million mobile phones. For comparison, Motorola expects to release in the second half to nine millions of smartphones.
