Michael Phelps won with a world record season
14-time Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps won the heat in the 200-meter butterfly with a best result of the season in the world. On the night of August 19, Phelps has overcome this distance in one minute and 54.11 seconds at the Pacific Games, held in the American city of Irvine, reports Reuters.
After the swim, 25-year-old swimmer told a journalist that while he is not in optimal physical shape. According to Phelps, is particularly hard for him were given the last 15 meters distance, when he could hardly wait for the last touch the rail.

Second place in the 200 butterfly metrovke won Australian Mark D'Arcy (minute, 54.73 seconds), third - Japanese Takeshi Matsuda (minute, 54.81 seconds). Pacific Games opened on 18 August and completed in 1921 number.

Michael Phelps eight times beat the world record in the 200 meters butterfly. The last time it happened at the world championships in 2009 in Rome, when the American has shown the result of one minute, 51.51 seconds. At the recent European Championships in Budapest, a Pole Paul Korzhanevsky won with the result of one minute and 55.00 seconds.
