Month confinement Chilean miners optimistic note singing |
Relatives of the miners, who had stopped in a mine in northern Chile, conducted the ceremony marking the month from the captivity of their loved ones under the ground. According to AFP, 5 September, the ceremony had gathered at the site of the dam, stuck in the ground 32 of the Chilean and one Bolivian flag (in the pit there were 32 Chileans and one worker from Bolivia) with the names of the miners, after which the choir began to sing upbeat songs.
The singing was accompanied by an accompaniment of flutes and wind instruments.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Mining of Chile, who read aloud the names of all the miners by encouraging shouts of the crowd.
Relatives told reporters that while the situation around the trapped miners underground attracted worldwide attention, and they have become national heroes, the miners felt very suppressed, since remains unclear when they will raise to the surface.
In addition, some of the relatives, talked with the miners through video-link, came to the conclusion that these passages only upset the miners, who worry about the emotional state of their loved ones.
The accident at the mine of San Jose took place on Aug. 5, 2010. It collapsed rocks, resulting in 33 people have been bricked up underground at a depth of 700 meters. The rescuers managed to communicate with the miners - all of them managed to survive - only on 22 August.
Currently, work is underway for drilling the tunnel, which is planned to bring miners to the surface. However, because of the danger of a new collapse of the work goes slowly, rescuers fear that workers will not release before the end of the year.
In the meantime, through the existing narrow opening connecting the seat captivity miners to the surface, they pass the food, letters from relatives, newspapers and other things that can improve their physical and psychological condition.
