Freedom Flotila
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has claimed responsibility for the seizure of ships "Freedom Flotilla". However, as noted by Ha'aretz, speaking to an internal committee investigating the incident, the minister made the reservation that the decision in principle to the landing on the court "flotilla" to take all the same collectively.
The meeting, which, according to Barak, took a few days before the incident took part, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and another six senior members of his cabinet. It was then decided that if the situation gets out of control, participants will need to resort to emergency measures. However, Defense Minister emphasized that the specific orders issued by the military during the operation, it must meet it.

Meanwhile, Barak's words differed from the evidence that before the Commission of Inquiry gave Netanyahu. As the head of government, a ministerial meeting was devoted to discussing implications of the operation for the international image of Israel, and the possibility of armed confrontation has remained outside the discussion.

Israeli commandos landed on the court "freedom flotilla" on the night of May 31, 2010. The seizure began after a trial with humanitarian cargo, intending to break the blockade of Gaza, refused the request of the authorities to proceed to the Israeli port where the goods have promised to deliver to the Gaza Strip through the UN.

On board the main vessel, the Turkish ship 'Mavi Marmara, an armed clash between the military and some of the hundreds of activists, accompanied by humanitarian cargo. According to the Israeli side, passenger ship was attacked by helicopters descended into the soldiers with knives, sticks and metal objects. Then someone from the passengers managed to deprive the military weapons, and soldiers were forced to open fire. Organizers of the fleet, in turn, is fully held responsible for the collision on the Israelis.

The incident resulted in the death of nine people (the majority - the citizens of Turkey), another 30 people were injured. The actions of the Israeli military condemned dozens of countries, as well as the UN Security Council.

In Israel, to investigate the circumstances of the incident was created several commissions. Own investigation of the IDF in mid-July, placed the responsibility for what happened to the Israeli Navy. Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu appeared before the commission headed by former Chief Justice Jacob Turkel (Yaakov Turkel). Meanwhile, on August 10 should start an international commission set up by the UN.
